I had it pegged at Sharp-shinned Hawk ! The Cooper’s and the Sharp-shinned are extremely difficult to tell apart in the field even by experts… The male Cooper’s and the female Sharpie are similar in size… The Sharpie has a small head compared with body size, the legs are thinner and the eyes are slightly forward on the face… This still could be a Cooper’s… I’m no expert !
Yes it is a Cooper’s hawk. The orange eye gives it away. Sadly, we had one hit our window a few weeks ago, and die. The SORCO lady came and took it away. She identified it by looking at its eye.
