I just got an entertaining call from someone in a foreign country that struggled her english
She told me some unauthorized activity on my Visa card recently
Do three things:
Hang up Never give out any info
Check your computer and the Visa card account in a normal fashion
If you want to play along – ask them to give you the CC number -and the name on the card
or the number – you can say
“Gotta Go”

Sometimes, it’s fun to see just how much time of the callers you can waste. If I’ve wasted enough time while giving no information I am often rewarded with an angry “@#^K ” you and rudely hung up on. I think that gets you off the happy list as well :-)

We get a caller Id of 604-555-1212 and one ring of the phone. It’s a computer searching for numbers to call according to Telus. I don’t answer any calls without a name on the caller id. Sometimes we get a recorded message sometimes not.

I also received one of these calls on my land line and contacted my bank. I was told NOT to check my online banking information while on a CELL PHONE call with these scammers, as somehow they can intercept information if you’re on an active call on your cell phone. Like others have suggested, the best thing to do is to hang up.

A friend told me the other day if you get those phone calls and you answer, and when they begin talking, just hang up and it is supposed to remove your phone number from their list.
So far so good for me.
Good luck.

They must be working the local lines. I had one too. They claim to be from Visa and have identified two entries on my account that appear suspicious. They referred to me as Mr. Flat.
Then, when challenged, tried to get my real name because of “account confusion”. After being challenged and sensing my suspicion they hung up.
I reported the call to my Bank, who confirmed no such activity and I have reviewed my account, thankfully, no such entries.
Do NOT give them any personal details under any circumstances. There is a Fraud office number you can call back east. I did. Went through the menu, waited for 15 minutes then was asked to call back, as they were experiencing a high levels of calls.

Get at least one call per week, sounds like a recording – I don’t even have a Visa account! I just hang up.

My friend in Calgary also had a call like that so it is not just being limited to Oliver or BC.
