Interior Health computer error causes confusion at Oliver vaccination clinic
Wow – no IH to blame – blame it on a machine

In my walk this morning – Oliver Legion (upper) not open – no peeps, no signs, no action, no communication – sorry we are on stress leave……
After three hours of waiting for a phone response, NO answer I realized IH has nothing to say – out of their control – let’s have coffee instead!
Yup – Jack Bennest
“I had an appointment yesterday at the Legion in Oliver for my vaccination. I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled time and waited and waited only to be told they were out of vaccine and the door was closed by a Wow volunteer without any discussion or accommodation. I was told to call and book another appointment… how unfair and frustrating.
Interior Health ……….put a plan in place to accommodate change!!”

I just booked this morning and we are booked for April 16
Our friends in Kamloops booked yesterday and booked March 31
Where did the vaccine go and why ?
We have been carefully waiting for the vaccine for so long,I do not understand.
It is very unfair and extremely frustrating

Here is my experience. Was my day to book an appt yesterday after 12 noon. Was thru by 12.30 and have appt for April 3rd. Young lady was helpful but seemed a bit uncertain then said she was putting me on hold and line went dead. However I got an email confirming appt and a number so fingers crossed!

Publisher: So for the record – you made an appointment – went to the site which was closed
Did not get your shot and now you love the Easter Bunny – have I got it correct Sandra, Sheila and Bill ???
Bill Eggert says
be kind, be calm, be safe.
It appears that a computer glitch booked more people than vaccines. That’s a little different than the headline “ran out of vaccine”.
I have had many interactions with Interior Health. When it comes to medical aid they have been efficient and professional. I won’t go that far when it comes to operating a business in their jurisdiction, but that’s a different issue.
Publisher: Bill – bill me for wine or the PR – the headline was IH – did you run out of vaccine??
–
and yes I continue to say NO communication – NO professional conduct – and Bill – pass the Merlot
Sheila Rissling says
We all have to be patient. Everyone’s time will come. Need to keep following health requests. This will hopefully all be a bad memory by the end of this year. I’m grateful that vaccines are on their way. Usually takes years to invent a vaccine, test it and then roll it out to the public. Yes we are all tired of the “new normal”.
Publisher: I think you as a member of the IH group are an apologist for incompetence. To have you communicate with me and not the very expensive PR department is depressing. I support those who serve the public – mask to mask – not the huge offices in Kelowna filled with paper pushers.
Sheila Rissling says
I retired 5 years ago and not particularly an “apologist” for IH.
Publisher: Happy Retirement
Now my criticizm of IH is not based on front line nurses, doctors and care givers. It is about
those peeps in high towers in Kelowna. I guess pushing paper is imporant to some – but my concern in planning – how long do you need to know that an important action must be taken (vaccine roll out) and did you do a good job in Oliver and or Osoyoos.
The roll out not handled well despite the great PR by the MSM .
Now you may say – “well who da hell are you?”

Bob Barker says
Not sure why you are criticizing front line workers.
They are paid 75T to 150T each year with a future pension of the highest years of income at 60 to 75 percent.
Much like the rest of us getting minimum wage of less than $15 an hour. And no pension for our efforts.
Failure of a system should never be made against a machine.
Mary Lou Ellan says
These people went to school for many years and had to get loans to pay for it. My daughter finished her RN last year and has $40,000 in student loans to pay, and that was with us helping her! Not many people would do the jobs and hours our frontline workers are doing! Be grateful that when you go to the hospital there is always someone there to help you. They are worth every penny!
Keith Johnson says
Well said Mary Lou – patience is a virtue.
Norma Mason says
We just drove past there and didn’t see any action nobody waiting so maybe there not open today ?
Not very good I didn’t think that was a good location to give the vaccine. Snr centre and Comm centre much better location ?
Gail Blidook says
I have family member on Vancouver Island who called March 22nd, got appointments March 25th for self and younger spouse (household vaccination). Very concerning that schedule varies according to district.

Not good enough when vaccinations are going really smoothly elsewhere in the valley! If they were out of vaccine would it not have been common courtesy to call those with appointments?
