Dr. Peter Enthwistle, right, is set to leave Oliver at the end of the year – heading east. Alan Ruddiman is seated left, former head of Doctors of BC
Two of his clients notified ODN of this upcoming change but we could not reach Peter at his main street office or at the OIB clinic.
“No letter yet, but did speak with him going end of December to PEI to Tignish to take over clinic. Small town only about 800 people. Said he just wanted a change and it was offered to him couple years ago.”
“I was gutted to get the news yesterday that Peter is leaving but can’t say that I blame him as he has been such a good doctor. He has fought hard for hospital and to improving what is available for those with addictions I wish him well and will be writing to him to tell him so. The College needs to do more about accepting doctors from other countries without making it so hard for them to receive a licence here.”

Glad for Dr. E, sad for us. Can’t express how thankful I am, that he, with ONE visit, diagnosed (confirmed by bloodwork) my polymyalgia rheumatica in May of 2017. It had caused horrific pain in shoulders and top of legs for FIVE MONTHS while in the U.S. for the winter. Meds didn’t help alleviate the pain. Doctors in the U.S. thought I needed a shoulder operation and recommended physical therapy. I will always be grateful for your exceptional care of my husband and myself, Dr. E. Your sense of humour is also fun! We wish you Godspeed and much happiness.

So sad to hear that you (our friend and family doctor for at least 10 years), are leaving. Wishing you the best, Dr. Entwistle

Oliver’s loss is PEI’s gain. Great man & doctor and we are thankful to have had him in our world.
Good luck and most of all good health!

Dr Entwistle is an incredibly good doctor and a compassionate human being. I will most assuredly miss him, as others will as well. Peter just has a knack of getting to the root of the health problem using good old common sense. Have a smooth transition in your ventures; karma is your friend.

Noooooooooooo.

I was devastated to learn of Dr. Entwhistle’s decision to move to PEI but sadly, I totally understand. I believe in my heart that this was a very difficult decision for him. His absence will be a great loss to many….myself included. There will now be many more people wandering around in British Columbia without a doctor. I do wish Dr. Entwhistle the very best and much happiness in his new location.

I guess this means I might have to fly to PEI to have a Guinness with Peter. What a doctor he is! I met him when I was working working Mental Health and Addictions (both Interior Health and Desert Sun). He was one of those doctors who spoke with incredible kind words to his patients. I knew I could always count on Dr. Entwistle to provide exceptional care for those client’s struggling with complex issues. Kind as well as no “beating around the bushes” – he spoke frankly when he needed. All the best Peter!

Our loss, their gain. Thanks for your years of service, Doctor. Oliver has become a better place during your stay. Thanks again.

How sad, another great doctor leaving the community and I guess that means the end of Oliver’s only walk in clinic.
Having had no doctor since March, when mine left, going into winter with no-one to call on is a scary prospect.
Visiting the emergency at the hospital seems like a waste of resources but, what else is available when you are too ill to drive to Penticton walk in clinic?
No word in seven months from the central agency, where I gave my name to go on the list for a doctor, so I guess it is go to emergency or nothing.

Going to be a sad day to lose my doc. Now what will we do?

Maybe in a mirror. I think Dr. Enthwistle is on the right.
