Coordinated investigation between the Osoyoos RCMP Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the BC Integrated Child Exploitation Unit (BC ICE) leads to arrest of Osoyoos man for possession of child pornography.
On May 19, 2020 the Osoyoos RCMP entered into an investigation after receiving information from BC ICE and the OPP that an internet account from Osoyoos was accessing child pornography. Osoyoos RCMP officers worked diligently over the next couple of days to identify the account user and on May 21, 2020 executed a search warrant of a local motel where the man was residing.
37 year old, Shawn Barry Titus has been arrested and charged for possession of child pornography and for failing to comply with a prohibition order. He has been remanded and will appear in court again on June 4, 2020.
Investigators continue to examine the evidence and to date have made no link to any local victims.
The team work of the agencies mentioned shows the dedication of police to protecting children from harm and to vigorously pursue those who access, distribute, or create child pornography, said Sgt Jason Bayda.

Three men have been arrested for firearms offences in Oliver, BC. One also facing drug related charges.
On June 2, 2020 at 7:00 pm, Oliver and Osoyoos RCMP responded to multiple shots being fired near a residence on Pine Ridge Drive in Oliver, BC. Officers located spent shell casings on the ground and apprehended 3 adult men.
A search warrant was executed on the residence where police seized two assault style semi-automatic firearms, a quantity of ammunition, methamphetamine and cocaine.
43 year old David James O’Brien, the resident, has been charged with possession of a firearm without a licence, careless use/storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to an order and possession of a controlled substance. O’Brien remains in custody and will appear in court again on June 11, 2020 in Penticton.
The two other men, 39 and 33 years old, both of Penticton have been released on undertakings to appear in court on September 9, 2020 on firearms charges.
Any offences involving firearms or drugs will be aggressively investigated, said Cpl Brian Evans, Oliver RCMP Commander.
Persons involved in this type of criminal activity will be held accountable.
