Pandemic
Each of us is doing the best that we can —
Every child, boy and girl, every woman and man.
We hear all the news, we don’t have to think twice.
We know we must follow the medics’ advice.
Wash your hands, maintain distance, and please do not roam.
The safest place of all is in your own home.
There are many, who daily, put their lives on the line
so we can stay safe, him, her, yours and mine.
How do they do it, day after day?
Knowing full well they might have to pay
with their lives. Oh my, that is too big a cost …
But without them, how many more lives will be lost?
We don’t have to like it, but can accept it with grace
And keep to the protocol with a smile on our face.
If we don’t, it’s for nothing. We mock what they do.
I will not do that! What about you?
Let us give thanks to every nurse, every doctor
They’re the ones saving a son or a daughter.
And let’s not forget those who work the front line
So we can get what we need. In my eyes, they shine!
Alrighty folks, let’s show appreciation
And prove, once again, we are still a great nation.
