Black smoke near prison – first report

Early morning fire (burn pile) near a home on OIB reserve – north of correctional centre…. on the highway near a gravel pit – 8100 block Hwy 97N.

7:15 am – Oliver Fire Department on scene. RCMP requested to attend.

The fire was not spreading.  No danger to structures or people. Fire Fighters cleared the scene after about 1/h hour.
