Rogers Pass, Kootenay Pass, the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Kamloops and the Okanagan Connector should see snow near the summits Friday, with light accumulations possible through the weekend.
Special weather statements have been posted for higher-elevation highways in the B.C.
Peace River, Boundary, Chilcotin, East Columbia, Elk Valley, Fort Nelson, Kootenay Lake, Muncho Lake Park, Nicola, Okanagan Valley, Shuswap, South Thompson, West Columbia, West Kootenay and Williston regions.
Areas along the B.C.-Alberta border are expected to see snow as well, with up to 10 centimeters possible.
Meteorologists say a return to drier conditions and seasonal temperatures are expected early next week.
The alert warns that weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
