Heritage Vodka, from Penticton’s Old Order Distillery, won gold in the vodka category of the competition, while Noteworthy Gin, a product of Oliver’s The Dubh Glas Distillery, earned gold in the gin category.
The competition, judged by eight spirits experts, is Canada’s only national spirit contest that is exclusively for micro-distilleries.
Alex Hamer, founder of the event, said competition was stiff in all 13 classes of spirits.
“It’s gratifying to see the depth and breadth of spirits produced by small, artisan distilleries across Canada,” Hamer said.
“These awards demonstrate that there are outstanding spirits being made in every region of the country.”
Old Order and Dubh Glas are two of 52 micro-distilleries across B.C., seven of which are in the South Okanagan.
