What is the matter with people today? Have they not heard of something called a “SHREDDER”? We have smoke in the summer from forest fires and now we have to put up with people that deliberately burn their leftovers from cutting down their orchards. We also have our lawmakers who sit in Victoria and don’t seem to care.
Publisher: Partly true – government inaction and lack of a positive policy has caused the amount of fuel in the forest that exacerbate the problem. NDP or Liberal both had other priorities.
As to the burning of forest fuel in winter – better than in the summer and part of a “secret” policy of getting it done even if against the present law, regulations, policy, etc. etc.
Agricultural burning is more of an indication of how things are changing. Old growth orchards moving to high density planting or to the more lucrative “wine” crop.
Each sentence in this rant is worth a book but I am running out of time for book writin’.
Orchard burning or development on ALR lands – all governments seem afraid of the “farm vote” – no one wants to be perceived as against the damn farmers.
There are better way, more expensive ways, faster way to get rid of wood. One fee per pile. All fees go to the inspector who makes sure the fire is hot and not full of tires, paint and
toxic crap. Use a large fan.
I watched a lot of people looking at orchard piles today – limited smoke, no fire to speak of and I said – “they must know what they are doing” lol
