Commenting on liquor licenses
No go on changing liquor licensing policy. Some weeks ago Penticton Councillor Judy Sentes urged the regional district to revisit its policy of opting out on commenting about liquor control board applications of all types.
Cities, towns and villages have their own policy on the matter but one Directior Michael Brydon said if the policy in rural areas is not broken – let’s not re do it. The board agreed.
The public can comment to the Liquor Control Board on applications but that body opens it up to having municipalities get involved if they wish to.
Group that proposed $450 thousand conservation fund to manage it for RDOS
Name of the group is SOS Conservation Program (SOSCP)
Executive Director Bryn White says SOSCP will charge 7% for administration or $31,500. There was some concern expressed today by a few RDOS directors that the group that promoted the fund is now administering it. But Regional District CAO Bill Newell says SOSCP is the best qualified to do the work – rather than doing it in house. The terms of reference for the new program was agreed to and a one year agreement is now in place.
Those seeking grants under this program have until September to make proposals.
Flood and Emergency Measures Update –
No change in flood preparedness status – RDOS is concerned about warm temperatures increasing creek flow – or rain – that helps to raise water body levels. Most lakes and rivers at full capacity at the moment.
