Bob and Arvie Bourgeault have sold their Oliver home and will leave shortly for the coast to resettle near the kids. Many in Oliver may have known about this but it came as a surprise to me.
Bob, came to Oliver in 1960 with his wife Arvie and a young family. He helped design the new (Industrial Education) shops at Southern Okanagan High School where he work for most of his life. In 1978 – the couple left Oliver and settled in Germany for 4 years on an exchange program but came right back to Oliver.
When the kids were grown Arvie got into the Flower Shop business at the Mall. Both have been very involved curlers. Bob served two terms on town council and the couple have been active volunteers and good citizens for their time with us. The list is too long to mention everything that this couple has been involved with. Just weeks ago – Arvie was involved in helping the the Arts Council parade entry.
They will be missed.
But Bob and Arvie are here until the end of October. Take the time to say “Good bye”

They are a GRAND pair and will be, as others have stated ,very sadly missed. However, they will be close to their family and able to share in all the activities that this will bring. Change is good – right Arvie!
I want to echo Wanda’s comments. Both Bob and Arvie have been great friends and inspirational as community leaders. Robbie and I will miss them immensely… however
we won’t let them off that easily. Once they’re settled into their new digs they better be prepared for invaders (I mean visitors).
Very sad day for Oliver…but great for Arvie, Bob and the family…you will be missed as you have contributed so much to our little community…you leave it a better place for your presence….but the grandkids will love having you so close…
Oliver has been good to my parents and to our family. It is hard to believe that they are actually leaving and will soon be living only 10 minutes from our doorstep! While I’ll miss the reason to visit the Okanagan and I’ll be saying goodbye to the house my father built and where I grew up, we kids and grandchildren can’t wait to have you near by and become more a part of our everyday lives instead of a few times a year. (Lauren is already excited that you will be here for her 9th birthday!) Love you guys…now start packing. The next couple of months are going to fly!
Neither of you will be forgotten and Oliver won’t be the same without you. This is an exciting move for you and your family and we know you will continue to enjoy life wherever you are. Thank you so much for your many valued contributions toward making Oliver the wonderful community it is. We’ll miss you both!
Bob and Arvie you are both amazing people and a great inspiration of what true community minded individuals should strive to acheive! People like you make Oliver a GREAT place to call Home! Enjoy your new move and being surrounded by your great family. Remember the turtle club!!!!
