A note from Spencer McKay and the coaches at Nothin’ But Net.

For the past 11 summers, Nothin’ But Net has been teaching the game of basketball to the kids of Oliver. Since the beginning, our goal has been to bring professional basketball players to Oliver and to keep the camp fees as low as possible so anyone can afford to participate. This makes us the only camp in the country to offer such a camp at such a low cost, and it is something of which we are immensely proud. This year was the first time I was able to get two NCAA Division 1 coaches from the Gonzaga University Bulldogs (one of the top college basketball programs in the U.S.) to come up Oliver, and the kids really benefited from the experience. Thanks to Coach Ross Convertino and Coach Tyler “T-Nut” Seth for enriching the NBN experience for everyone!

I’d also like to extend a personal thank-you to Ryan Baptiste, who started as a camper in grade 9, and has since become a regular member of our coaching staff.

There are a couple of groups that make this camp possible, and I’d like to take the time to thank each one. The first group we need to thank is the kids, because without them this camp would not be possible. We get fantastic kids to camp every summer, and we always see great sportsmanship and great attitudes. We would like to thank each and every camper for coming out to NBN, and I know the entire coaching staff is looking forward to seeing your development as players. If you’re in the Rookie Camp, keep playing Mini-Ball and get involved with the Steve Nash league! But, everyone needs to get to the gym, your driveway, or the park, and work on the fundamentals you learned at camp. Most importantly, have fun!

The other group we’d like to thank is our supporters, all of whom recognize the importance of youth sports and how essential it is to keeping our kids active. We’d like to thank the Oliver Kiwanis for being such incredible supporters of NBN, Don Brogan at Walnut Beach Resort for providing first-class accommodations (and long beds) for the coaching staff, and Gatorade for providing the best possible hydration for our thirsty campers. We would also like to thank OK Tire, Argon Electrical Services, Valley First, Oliver Canadian Tire, Buy-Low Foods, Osoyoos Indian Band, 7-Eleven, Subway, Almerio’s Pizza, Big Kahuna, SO Country.ca, Steve Nash, and Rick Hansen.

See you next summer!  - Spencer, Joey, Jeremy, Ryan, Ross, and Tyler
